Alexandra D wrote a review Oct Where to begin Super run down and quite dodgy to say the least.

After seeing the lobby, my doubts started turning around. I really had high hopes for the room after seeing it, but sadly I was nothing less of disappointed. From there onwards it went downhill.

After finally getting the key to my room and exiting the elevator on my designated floor, the first thing I could smell was smoke from cigarettes. The air conditioning is pre set, the bathroom had spider webs and hair from the previous people on the shower wall!

Not to mention the amount of cockroaches I found! And for the only reason me staying here, being the price and convenient walking distance to MBK centre, I was disappointed with both.

The price for the room is literally a joke and double the walking distance to MBK from the hotel as advertised on their website when booking Will definitely never stay there again …. Christian A wrote a review Jul Not Centrally Located. The hotel itself was adequate given the cost, and the staff was polite. My main reason for the rating was the hotel location which is not central to any sights or metro lines. If you are a first time visitor I woudl recommend staying in the Silom area where you can walk to plenty of attractions or get to further ones by metro. Traffic is bad all over Bangkok, but to give you an example it took us 1hr to go 5miles to one of the malls.

This book spiked an interest in them that I have not seen in a group of reluctant readers.

From the facts about the construction of the buildings to the strange facts like the daredevils to the facts of the day of the attacks, this text sparked some really great discussion.

It also brought up some intense emotions in me as I relived that day in my mind. Nov 24, Moop rated it really liked it Shelves: kids-books. This was a great book on the history of the twin towers from the idea to build them to their terrible collapse.

Lots of technical things in the book that describe how all the important decisions were made about the start and memory of the building. May be a little tough for a third grader to understand could be used for 4th or 5 th graders. Jan 01, Natalie rated it really liked it Shelves: junior-non-fiction , who-what-where-series , historical , , school-shelves , united-states.

Reading between the lines of a kid's book, I bet there was quite a bit of justified drama involved. I'm not a fan of eminent domain. There had to be at least 10 million square feet of space to rent and over floors in each tower.

A Japanese-American, Minoru Yamasaki, won. He said: Yama, President Kennedy is going to put a man on the moon. You're going to figure out a way to build me the tallest buildings in the world. This was pretty impressive to me. The trenches were feet deep and took 14 months to complete. Tenants had been slowly moving in since and were already up and running.

One penny for each floor of the Tower. I haven't had a chance to visit the completed memorial and museum but reading this book made me want to head back to NYC and show my respect to those who lost their lives.

Sep 23, Sunah Chung rated it it was amazing Shelves: children , informational , non-fiction. The book introduces general information of the Twin Towers about the background history of the construction of the building. The structure of the contents are organized chronologically, and contents are clustered as chapters. The expository texts conveys information and explains the facts and evidences on events and the objects, in this case the Twin Towers. At the end of the page, timeline of the Twin Towers and the worlds are demonstrated, and bibliography of the contents are encompassed.

I appreciate that the author tries to make a balanced perspectives to the facts and information on the Twin Towers. The comments of Muslims and miscommunications of officers or governments about the attacks must be sensitive issues in America. When it comes to the illustrations of the book, it also contains multiple characters with different ethnic orients. Oct 19, Lorenzo Costanza rated it it was amazing.

The events surrounding September 11, are skillfully recorded in this children's book by Jim O'Connor; beginning with the history of the area itself, the grand construction design of the Twin Towers, and eventually a description of their historic destruction by radical terrorists. Nov 27, Nancy rated it it was ok Shelves: real-life-stories , children-s , terrorism. Good information about the building of the towers and their destruction. The author's description of the Islam religion being peaceful was a mistake that made me wonder how much else in the story was false.

He also said there were unheeded warning signs of the attack by government agencies and even the president. That was disturbing. View 1 comment. Sep 21, Tiffany rated it it was amazing.

Read this book to my third and fourth graders and they learned a lot. It made them think and come up with questions about the Twin Towers. It gives a great history of the towers being built and tells the story of the memorial that is in their place today. Very good read! Feb 20, Gunnar E rated it it was amazing. It was sad but interesting. Sep 20, Caroline rated it it was amazing. This was a very well done overview of the World Trade Center for kids. I actually learned things I didn't know about the acquisition of land and building of the towers.

It covers a greater span of history than just the events that took place on September 11th, but it does a very graceful and respectful way of highlighting the events of that day and the memorial that stands in place of the towers now. I would definitely recommend this to parents whose children don't remember or weren't alive on S This was a very well done overview of the World Trade Center for kids. I would definitely recommend this to parents whose children don't remember or weren't alive on September 11th, This book was good.

I feel like it glossed over a lot for young reader s. Oct 29, Tayden Christians rated it it was ok. It was a very good book If you like the twin towers. I like how they in memory of the twin towers put up a museum with pieces of metal and bent steel. I always knew about the a little but not this much. I've always been really interested in things like this. I really liked this book and I think that if your interested in reading you should definitely read it.

Sep 13, Erin Pierce rated it liked it. Not as interesting as the other "who was" books, which was kind of expected. Gave a good overall view of how the Towers came to be, their construction, and destruction.

Apr 04, Milene rated it it was amazing Shelves: non-fiction. The author gives plenty of details about the Twin Towers. David Rockefeller, the president of one of the largest banks in the world, wanted to attract business to lower Manhattan and sought the help of the Port Authority to help him with his idea. He wanted to create the World Trade Center. After getting financing and plans approved, construction What Were the Twin Towers?

After getting financing and plans approved, construction was started on New York City's two famous giants. The landmarks, celebrities in themselves, attracted not only tenants and tourists, but daredevils, as well. The attention the buildings received was not always welcome. Because the buildings represented some of the top financial companies in the world, they were also targets for attacks. In , a group of terrorists tried to blow up one of the buildings.

Their quest, sadly, took lives and damaged the building, and also revealed many problems with safety. Measures were taken to increase security, but nothing could have prepared NYC for the attacks that came in Thousands of lives were lost and the buildings faced their final demise. I would recommend this book for 3rd-6th grade. It is a great reference to use in the classroom to discuss the events of September 11th.

The book is full of information that could be used to make a timeline, and, in fact, there are two timelines included at the end of the book.

This book could also be used to discuss resilience, as so many people and communities came together to help one another after the horrific attacks.

It also describes its functionality as operation as a self-contained community and what types of residents and companies were located there. The two Islamic terrorist attacks were also covered in a fair amount of detail from the planning and execution to the aftermath and the cleanup after the collapse of both towers.

What I found odd was the statement that Islam is a peaceful religion when all of the hijackers were Muslim and all did what they did in the name of their religion, Islam. I would have given the book at least two stars higher rating if the author had left out that statement purely for the purposes of political correctness.

This makes me wonder what additional subtle political messages or slanted information are included. Sep 24, Autumn rated it it was amazing.

What were the twin towers was a great book! The format of the story was what made me very fond of this book because its very organized, and I am a very organized person and I enjoy reading books that have a very organized order. It started off by explaining what the twin towers were and then, it went into how the building process. Next, into the city's thoughts of the trade center.

And at the very end it talked about all the new museums, and landmarks. As you can see this was a very chronological book. Nov 16, Jordyn Pounders rated it liked it. Starting with the attack of the World Trade Centers, this book describes why they were a target in the first place.

Twin Towers Trading. Full benefits health insurance, k, bonuses and travel retreats. The Company goes above and beyond to ensure all reps are successful but you still have to do your job thoroughly. Too many individuals with no sales experience looking for an easy check. I love it. Like any sales job where your making a ton of money seeing your family less than you like is the only drawback.

Flexible schedule, easy bonuses for memorization. Terrible culture of top down management - managers rarely, if ever, involved in what it takes on the ground floor. Today is my one year anniversary at Twin Towers Trading.

In celebration of that, I decided to write a review. I am a product demonstrator, selling jewelry in Walmart's and various other stores. I love that I can work independently. My trainers and the office staff have been very supportive and I would recommend this job to anyone.

I love that I have the choice to stay local or travel. I sometimes miss the office setting where I can mingle with my co-workers because of the independence, but I get to chat with many friendly customers and workers at the store that I'm at that day.

You can return the stock they stick you with for store credit. Ha ha. It's an evil scam. How are people still getting sucked in? Long hours especially around the holidays though it feels good to help people make money.

This is a place where what you put into it is what you get out of it. At my old job, I was tired of going the extra mile and making the same hourly wage as the person next to me wasting time and always complaining.

That's how it should be. I feel recognized and appreciated by everyone at the corporate headquarters for my efforts. Yes, you work hard but at least you make great money. I feel like the CEO cares about me and has made a point to get to know me personally, which I never expected. I like being trusted to work independently but also knowing that if I run into trouble there's always someone there to help me out. So far it has been a great experience and I think the people on here who are complaining probably didn't work that hard and like to blame others.

Long hours and a lot of driving. It has been a long and great run doing this job and will miss everyone greatly. My wife's promotion at her job has me and my family moving overseas. I have already spoken to management and hopefully will be able to join the Twin Towers UK team when I get there. Thanks again for all the support over the last three years.

I feel that working stores for only 1 week does not maximize the potential, I think each store should be worked for 2 or maybe even 3 weeks at a time. I am the stero-typical actress that has been waiting tables and tending bar for the last few years.

Finally, I have found a job that allows me to perform in front of a live audience everyday and hone my skills. I making very good money and having fun doing it.

My trainer wasa rockstar!!!! I was only taught one product. Great pay when things are going great. Main office was terrible to work with and often times you are left to try and fix one of their mix up on your own.

Often sent to stores that had been worked recently and as a result less impact and sales for you. Disorganized and do not communicate very well to the reps.
